Mrs. Heideman’s Art Portfolio Lesson

Students will look at other high school student’s artwork on selected websites from a hotlist.

bullet

 Students will take digital pictures of their own artwork from the past years as well as current work. These pictures will be turned into a PowerPoint presentation that will be presented to the class at the end of the term.

bullet

 Students will use Microsoft Word to create an original artist’s statement or philosophy of art after viewing the hotlist sites for artist’s statements.

 

Art Portfolio Instruction

 Look at the websites that are hotlisted

Decide which are your best pieces; you are required to have 10 pieces.

bullet

 If you are photographing 3D pieces you must take photographs from two angles.

bullet

Mrs. Heideman has a digital camera that you may use, but you must bring in a disk.

bullet

Each image must have the following information typed on it: medium (what is it made out of), size (height, width, and length if 3D), title (all artwork must be titled...untitled is not an option)

Look at the hotlisted sites for artist’s statements. After looking at these examples try to write your own statement about your work.

Start to build your PowerPoint presentation. If you choose to not complete this assignment you will fail the course. This assignment counts as your final exam grade.

 Remember this project represents you as an artist and also as a student. Meaning make sure your photographs are good, clear, show your work well and that the written areas are spelled correctly, grammatically correct, and make you sound intelligent.
